Biography
Peter Polansky (born June 15, 1988 in North York, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian former professional tennis player
In 2006, Polansky advanced to the final of the junior US Open, becoming, at that time, only the second Canadian in history to reach a Grand Slam final in singles (after Philip Bester who reached the final of the junior French Open earlier that year). In 2010, he reached the second round of the US Open with a victory over the 30th seed Juan Mónaco in straight sets. He lost to James Blake in his next match. Polansky made it to the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 in Canada on five occasions, in 2009, 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2017. In 2013, he won his first ATP Challenger singles title at the event in Tiburon. In 2016 in Gatineau, Polansky captured his second Challenger singles title. In 2018, he reached the second round of the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells but was defeated by the 20th seed Adrian Mannarino. He won his third ATP Challenger title at the 2018 Challenger Banque Nationale de Granby. Also in 2018, he became the first player to enter all four Grand Slams as a lucky loser within the same calendar year. In 2019, Polansky captured the fourth ATP Challenger singles title of his career, winning at the event in Columbus. He retired in 2023 after the National Bank Open.
