Biography
Bianca Jolie Fernandez (born February 24, 2004 in Montréal, Québec, Canada) is a Canadian tennis player. She reached a career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 606 on September 11, 2023 and a career-high WTA doubles ranking of No. 178 on September 16, 2024.
In 2020, Fernandez reached her first professional doubles final at the ITF W15 in Sharm El Sheikh with sister Leylah Annie. In 2021, she advanced to the second doubles final of her career at the ITF W25 in Marbella. In 2022, she made her WTA main-draw debut at the WTA 250 event in Monterrey, partnering sister Leylah Annie in the doubles draw. Also in 2022, she scored her first WTA main-draw win, reaching the second round in the doubles draw of the National Bank Open with sister Leylah Annie. In 2023, Fernandez reached the third doubles final of her career at the ITF W15 in Fort-de-France, Martinique. Also in 2023, she advanced to the final of the ITF W25 in Santa Margherita di Pula with partner Chiara Scholl. In 2024, she reached the semifinals of the WTA 1000 National Bank Open again with sister Leylah Annie. Also in 2024, she was runner-up in doubles at the ITF W35 in Leiria, Portugal with Radka Zelníčková. She is a part of the University of California, Los Angeles tennis team since 2023.
Fernandez was born in Montréal but grew up in Laval. Her father Jorge is from Ecuador and her mother Irene Exevea from Toronto, Ontario and of Filipino descent. She has two older sisters, Jodeci, and Leylah Annie who also plays tennis. She is training in Boynton Beach, Florida.
